This week on Simply Ming, Ming is On the Road in Hawaii! His fifth stop finds in Maui with Chefs Roy Yamaguchi and Alan Wong. Chef Roy Yamaguchi is an American celebrity chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, television personality and owner and founder of Roy’s restaurants. He is known as the innovator of Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine and was the first chef in Hawaii to be honored with a James Beard Award for “Best Chef: Pacific Northwest”. Chef Alan Wong, also a James Beard Award Winner for “Best Chef: Northwest”, is known for his marriage of ethnic cooking styles using the finest island-grown ingredients and restaurants Alan Wong’s Restaurant and The Pineapple Room in Honolulu. Both join Ming poolside to first mix up Alan’s Pineapple Martini. Next, they continue cooking outside on the Teppanyaki grill first making Alan’s Seared Opah, then Roy’s Pork Paillard and lastly Ming’s Seafood Okonomiyaki. It is one fun episode in beautiful Maui!
